SPECIFICATION OF VIRAL ADVERTISING COMPETITION

 

1.     AIM OF COMPETITION: In order to contribute to the growth of teenagers who are the future of our country as to be inquiring, researching and thinking individuals, to enable them to protect their cultural values while they are keeping up in the digital world, EMU Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, Public Relations and Advertising Department is organizing a viral advertising competition for high schools in collaboration with Kuzey Kıbrıs Turkcell, Noyanlar Grup, TRNC Ministry of National Education and Culture and TRNC Ministry of Tourism.

 

2.     SUBJECT OF THE COMPETITION: Transferring our culture that holds our society together and build our social connections from older generations to new generations is very vital. In this context, the young people will introduce the culture of the region they live in with the digital viral advertising videos they will prepare. EMU Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, Public Relations and Advertising Department, in collaboration with Kuzey Kıbrıs Turkcell, Noyanlar Group, TRNC Ministry of National Education and Culture, TRNC Ministry of Tourism, determined the topic of the viral advertisement competition, which will be held this year for the first time among high school students, as “Keep Your Culture Alive".

 

3.     TERMS OF PARTICIPATION IN THE COMPETITION

  1. Students from public which affiliated to the TRNC Ministry of National Education and Culture and private high schools (9.10.11.12. grade) will be able to participate in the competition.
  2. The applicant adverts, in accordance with the general purposes of the TRNC Constitution, “No: 41/2006 TRNC National Education, Supervision, Evaluation and Guidance Board Law, no 17/1986 TRNC National Education law's aim, the principle specified in the relevant legal regulations needs to be prepared. Adverts that are not prepared in this way are not going to be evaluated.
  3. An applicant can apply with more than one viral advertising video. In this case, a separate application form must be filled for each application.
  4. The video work applied for the competition must not have participated in any other competition or received an award and should not have been published in any other platform.
  5. The participants of the competition accept that they have transferred all kinds of publication rights of the work they participated in to EMU Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, Public Relations and Advertising Department for free of charge and undertake that they are not going to receive any royalties for the published work.
  6. The legal rights and responsibilities regarding the use of the names of private and legal person that will be mentioned in the content of the video work belong to the participant.
  7. Viral adverts need to be formatted as mpeg4 or mov format, HD quality; The shots to be taken with a mobile phone should be prepared in 16:9 format (horizontal).
  8. Viral adverts that will be sent to the competition must be at least 1 minute. Also, they should not exceed 5 minutes.
  9. Low-resolution viral adverts are not going to be considered.
  10. The video works must be original. When stock images or previously published 2nd people video works are detected, the contestant will be directly eliminated.
  11. The advertisement must be in Turkish or with Turkish subtitles.
  12. Any part of the video work should not include advertising content or logo that may belong to a sponsor, and visual and audio content that may represent any brand.
  13. References should not be made without specifying the source in the works. If done, it must be reported or acknowledge.
  14. The name or logo of the participant will not be on or at the beginning of the viral advertising work. The competitor information (nickname and viral advertisement name) is going to be added to the black screen at the end of the viral advert.
  15. Viral advertisements that do not comply with social moral principles, do not comply with the Constitution, general and special purposes of Turkish National Education, and contain racist or discriminatory features will be excluded from the competition.
  16. The viral advertisement prepared in Word format digitally and with the wet signed attachment 1 (EK-1) Application Form and letter of commitment will be sent to https://vry.emu.edu.tr. Video works that do not meet the technical requirements will not be evaluated.
  17. EMU Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, Public Relations and Advertising Department has all right to dispose of the work.
  18. Each student who completes the application will be deemed to have accepted all terms of the specification.
  19. The right to make changes regarding the competition belongs to the EMU Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, Public Relations and Advertising Department, provided that it is announced in beforehand on their social media accounts (Facebook: Emu Public Relations and Advertising Department and Instagram:prademu).
  20. The award ceremony of the competition is going to be held in March 2023 with a ceremony attended by the members of the jury.
  21. The viral adverts will be delivered to the web site specified in the article "xvi" until the end of the working day Tuesday, February28, 2023.
  22. The members of the jury will examine the Viral works received according to the criteria in the attachment 2 (EK-2) Work Review and Evaluation Form.
  23. The jury of the competition is consisting of 15 members, 11 of whom are from the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies (Dean of the Faculty and Public Relations and Advertising Department faculty members ), a Northern Cyprus Turkcell representative, a Noyanlar Grup representative, a TRNC Ministry of National Education and Culture representative, and a TRNC Ministry of Tourism representative.
  24. The members of the jury will examine the Viral works received according to the criteria in the attachment 2 (EK-2) Work Review and Evaluation Form. The evaluation score will be calculated according to attachment 3 (EK-3) by taking the arithmetic average of the scores given by all jury members.
  25. Decisions made by the members of the jury are final and objections will not be processed.

First Prize: 5000TL+ Xiaomi Redmi Note 10s

Second Prize: 3000TL+ Xiaomi Mi Band 6

Third Prize: 2000TL+ Apple Airtag
