The Department of Public Relations and Advertising in the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies at EMU was established in 1997 and rose to become the department that has got the highest number of graduates in the faculty. The main mission of the Department of Public Relations and Advertising is to train experts who are aware of their ethical responsibilities, knowledgeable in their fields, have a vision, are creative, can provide solutions to problems, and are fully trained experts for the future industry in today's globalizing world.

The Viral Advertising Competition which will be held for the first time this year, for the High school students in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, TRNC Ministry of Tourism and Environment and sponsor companies (Kuzey Cyprus Turkcell and Noyanlar Group), aims to contribute to moving the teenagers who are the future of our country, to become individuals who can question, research, think critically and easily have access to the digital world and change the world.

Transferring our culture from our generation to future generations becomes more and more important now a days and the social networks hold and unites our society. In this competition, participants are the young people must required to introduce the cultural richness of the region they live in with a viral advert prepared in digital format.

The Viral Advertising competition will be held for the first time this year among high school students under the theme "Keep Your Culture Alive". Participants are going to be high school (grades 9.10.11. and 12.) students from public and private schools affiliated with the TRNC Ministry of National Education and Culture.

After the competition ends on the 28th of February 2023, evaluations will be made by a jury and winners will receive their awards in March 2023 at a ceremony presided over by jury members.
